It’s not always easy to stay on top of mandatory competency requirements but YNA is committed to ease the process for you. All YNA Specialist Nurses are required to undertake Advanced Life Support training annually.
We know how hard it is to keep up with all requirements and have partnered with the Australian College of Critical Care Nurses (ACCCN) to deliver training at YNA Victoria’s conveniently located South Melbourne office at 232 Albert Road.
There are options to book Certification and Recertification Courses on a date to suit you.
These courses are open to any Registered Nurses. YNA Field Staff or ACCCN members are entitled to a discount on the course fee.
ACCCN courses are based on the current ANZCOR guidelines and include a combination of theoretical lectures, clinical skills stations and scenarios.

2 day Adult Advanced Life Support (ALS) program for healthcare professionals in the provision of Adult Basic and Advanced Life Support in a clinical setting. The program content runs over 2 days with certification for both BLS and ALS on the second day. This course is most suitable for those with little or no experience or knowledge of ALS or those wanting a comprehensive update.
1 day theoretical and practical Adult Advanced Life Support (ALS) recertification program for healthcare professionals who have recent Adult ALS certification. The morning is a review only of ALS content with the opportunity to apply those concepts in practice scenarios. The theoretical and practical assessment for re-certification will follow in the afternoon.
1 day theoretical and practical Paediatric Advanced Life Support (ALS) recertification program for healthcare professionals who have recent Paediatric ALS certification. The morning is a review only of ALS content with the opportunity to apply those concepts in practice scenarios. The theoretical and practical assessment for re-certification will follow in the afternoon.
2 day Paediatric Advanced Life Support program for healthcare professionals in the provision of Paediatric Basic and Advanced Life Support in a clinical setting. The program content runs over 2 days with certification for both BLS and ALS on the second day. This course is most suitable for those with little or no experience or knowledge of ALS or those wanting a comprehensive update. It is also suitable for experienced Adult ALS trained healthcare professionals requiring Paediatric ALS Certification.
2 day Instructor Program for healthcare professionals who teach Advanced Life Support (ALS) and have existing ALS certification. The focus is to develop skill and understanding around resuscitation education. Time is spent developing and practising instructor skills including teaching simulations and ALS assessments. Participants always comment what a great networking opportunity this program is, particularly to share challenges and solutions around ALS/BLS delivery.
This course includes an ALS recertification in either adult or paediatric, based on the current ANZCOR guidelines.
